Has anyone quit because they were being treated badly at their place of employment?

How would you have handled it?

I stopped complaining about a month before I quit. And I was denied unemployment because I didn't complain the last month of my employment. You are right if you are thinking it makes it worse on you if you complain. But if you are planning on quitting anyway, you need to keep records of everything and complain, complain, complain. Try to stay on the good side of a few of the workers so that you can supoena them as witnesses.

just seems to me that most companies care about ONE thing. $$$.

not people...

fact of life working today... like it or not. I think is sucks but what can you do?

start you own business and work for yourself, be the boss... and treat people better.

or find another job... until that one gets bad. then move on again.
Reply:You don't say what state you live in, which matters since unemployment insurance rules vary from state to state. But in California, you generally only get unemployment insurance if you are laid off. If you quit or are fired for cause then the state will usually deny you coverage.
Reply:Yes, and I did try to talk to management, b/c part of management was the problem. I also kept records of who and what was said. Another co-worker made a very sexist remark to me right in front of a manager. When I went to management and filed a statement, the manager who witnessed it said he didn't hear anything. What can you do? Nothing. My word against his. I ended up walking out when I tried to go part-time to go back to school and they started acting like jerks about it. The company was Home Depot, so there is no reason why they couldn't let me. Bad management skills.
Reply:It wasn't the complaining that got you denied UI - it was the quitting. It's very difficult to get awarded UI for a voluntary quit.
