What is usually tested for during a UK pre-employment medical?

I've recently and unexpectedly been offered a fantastic post working for a private health care firm. They have requested that I attend for a basic pre-employment medical prior to a formal job offer. However, over the Christmas period and until two days ago i've smoked a significant amount of grass. Is this likely to be tested for or is it usual for a basic medical to simply test for height, weight etc?

They will be checking on your general health to see how suitable you will be for the work involved.

Companies have legal obligations and responsibilities to employees. They will check to see if you have certain types of illnesses or disabilities.

If you have no particular illnesses, I would not be concerned.

You will find that a lot of responsible employers will want a pre employment medical just to prove that you are fit to do the job.
Reply:medical for my p.s.v involved checking my breathing, weight, and a urine sample that they analyze for drugs.
Reply:In my experience you only go for the health checks after you have been formally offered the job in writing and started the job.
Reply:weed will def show up in a basic test up to 2 weeks after your last puff. look for another job sorry
Reply:You will definitely be tested for drugs! That is all medicals are for, do they care what height you are?

All is not lost though, although grass is the worst for hanging about in your system I'm sure the glorious interweb will offer you a variety of flushing remedies to "detox" yourself.
