How do police investigators find past employment? Are they able to find current employment for current year?

I showed inconclusive on pre-employment drug test and was not hired for job in 2008. I was paid a bit for a one day training that I attended, but no more. Can the police background check find out about this if it is not on my application? I was never employed as the test showed inconclusive. I wanted to retest but they were going to make me pay for it. Found different job instead. Any ideas out there? Preferably from someone with applicable experience?

Maybe. If you were paid, you were hired. So to leave it off your employment history is lying, and lying, even about trivial stuff, will get you NOT hired. It's not a drug arrest or conviction, and the test was inconclusive, which means nothing, but they will definitely drop you for lying. Had a guy once lied about being arrested. It was a silly, bogus charge. We'd have laughed with him about it. But he didn't tell us. Too bad. We would have hired him. Consider that they may indeed find a record of it. You want to take the chance or have it one day come out, just through some odd chance, and get you fired? If you've already turned in the application, you might be able to go back and tell them you thought you weren't hired for that job but thought about having been paid something and thought you ought to add it.
Reply:Your safe dont worry just go on as if nothing has happened just make sure your ready for another test when it comes.

Man above uses the word lying, well thats a powerful word and when the light is shined on bosses they are the first to crumble. Every person has the right to protect his **** and who has the right to control the truth, NOONE and if any person does he is the biggist hypocrite in the universe that is why they have drug tests to to start with to try to have the power of truth.

And who has the right to control such a thing as truth only Jesus and that is how it will remain untill the end.
Reply:If you were never hired by this company then they would not show up on your background report. I work for the department of corrections and have worked in the back ground research department. Places of employment are taken from tax records, your social security records and even your credit report. If you were never on this companies actual payroll, don't report them as an employer, they will not be on your records.
