Wondering what all is involved in a pre-employment background check?

Just wondering if a domestic dispute that happened years ago will show up on my record. I spent over night in jail, but was never convicted. Will this harm my employment chances?

it depends on what position you are applying for. most positions only require credit checks, if you were never convicted then i wouldnt worry about it.
Reply:It depends on the job, some look for arrests, some only for convictions.
Reply:Depends on the job you are applying for and the security depth requirements .

Reply:It depends on what type of check. And it depends on exactly how long ago. Most checks are only regional and go back typically ten years. Best to ask how far back they check and then answer accordingly. If there was no conviction then you can say you were briefly held until it was dismissed.
