I filed a 2007 single tax return and got it back. In 2007 my status was an employment authorization document holder with a SSN #. Does it matter that my SSN was through a EAD or that I just have a valid SSN to begin with. The IRS website does not answer this. Thanks!
Do I qualify for stimulus package if I have a SSN I got through my employment authorization document?
If your SSN was issued in conjunction with a guest worker visa such as an H-1B or a student visa then it is restricted to employment approved by USCIS. Those SSNs are not eligible for the Stimulus Plan rebates. On the other hand if you have a work permit that allows you to work for any employer without restriction then your SSN is not restricted and you are eligible for the rebate.

Reply:It may depend upon your visa status. Nonresidents will not get the refund.
