How long will it typically take a company to respond to an application for employment?

Assuming that you're qualified and there are no barriers to employment- I've applied to about seven different positions online in the past two days- but I'm already nervous because I haven't heard back from anyone. I am especially qualified for a number of these positions. Most are for jobs in the insurance and legal industries.

As variable as the companies you apply for. Can be 1-3 weeks in my experience. Depends if they're interviewing everyone together or doing one person at a time. Other factors come in to play also such as staff holidays/sickness and busy times in the business (we've been putting off interviewing for months now because we simply haven't time to see everyone at the moment).

If you don't hear for a while and then they seem overly keen on you in the interview, could be that they offered the job to someone and they turned it down.
Reply:It will probably take a week or so.. im sure they have plenty of resumes.. Try calling in a couple more days to see what is going on ..
